Sebastien Tellier - La ritournelle

Sebastien Tellier is an eccentric and simultaneously genious French singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. The public noticed him when he released his first album The Incredible Truth(2001) and went in tour with Air. However the real success was succeed in 2005 and with his album "Politics" A particularly popular song from Politics was "La Ritournelle", a string-led tune, which featured Nigerian drummer, Tony Allen of Fela Kuti fame . Furthermore Sebastien took part in Eurovision 2009 with the song Divine. His style general(music and performance) can be characterized frin lo-fi electronica to bizarre cabaret style with dynamic pop melodies.

Repulsion

Repulsion is one of the most innovative and effective films on the subject of mental illness from the side of the patient. Catherine Deneuve embodies Carole, a Belgian immigrant who lives at the fashionable residential neighborhood of South Kensington in London. In a world where sex is something very important for her working, friendly and family environment, the character displays strong signs of oppressed sexuality which gradually develop into paranoia. Polanski displays a fully detailed and accurate presentation of the feellings and thoughts of a mentally deranged person combined with an apt visualization of the element of paranoia and fear in a way that is both stunning and repulsive. The director tries to deconstruct the phaenomenon of paranoia in an sum of different social and family factors while his unconventional use of shading, camera angles and music, show us a mature and distinctive film director and give the film a huge artistic value.

Mos Def - Supermagic

Mos Def is an American actor and MC. He is well known for his performances in several movies such as Be Kind Rewind with Jack Black, the Italian job, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy  and in many other Hollywood movies. But in the same time Def is performing as a MC and he had collaborated with many big names in the hip-hop scene. He appears in the albums of Kanye West, De la Soul, GZA, Danger Mouse, the Roots,...,. Caribou - Odessa

Caribou is Canadian Dan Snaith (b. 1978), who formerly recorded under the moniker Manitoba. Known for altering his sound with each subsequent release, he incorporates electronic psychedelia, krautrock rhythms, and breakbeat drums and creates a swirling, lush, musical panorama. Synoikia to oneiro

"Synikia to oneiro" is a really touching and moving film. Being the second film of Alekos Alexandrakis, one the most talented greek artists of the 60s, it manages to depict the real side of poverty in the poorest suburbs of the greek capital in a raw and original way. Alexandrakis himself is surely one of the most significant artistic personalities of his time. He has clearly been influenced by the neo-realistic move of Italy during the 50s and his film bears resemblance to the works of Vittorio De Sica. Himself and Manos Katrakis give out truly stunning performances and the music tracks composed by Mikis Thodorakis and sung by Grigoris Mpithikotsis have now reached a classic status. The movie was heavily cencored and banned during the 60s because of its depiction of the suburban sociatyand was never distributed in foreign countries, thus bereaving the director from world-wide fame and destroying him economically.

Dogtooth

Dogtooth is a really unforgetable cinematic experience. Young greek director George Lanthimos manages to create a movie with magnificent aisthetic taste and really meaningfull arguments of critisism about the structure of society,daily life and the existing political model. The viewer will find many fresh and creative ideas in this film, blended in a unique stunning atmosphere and although there are some script weaknesses and a mediocre ending it succeeds in being one of the most memorable greek films of the last decade. Truly a must see.
