The French Connection

Winner of five Oscars including best picture, director and actor this grimy cop movie is short on characterization and long on law-and-order fervour. The redoubtable Gene Hackman is the maverick cop Popeye Doyle who reins in foreign (French) drug peddlars. The film is memorable for two reasons, its innovative, perfectly helmed and edited action sequences and a blatant exploitation of the anxieties of Americas "silent majority" during the tumultuous and uncertain times of the 70s

Tom Waits - Rain dogs

Rain dogs is one of the most significant albums of music history. Released in 1985 and is the 9th album of Waits. The album in general refers to the the urban dispossessed of New York. The album has been noted as one of the most important musically and critically in Waits' career.

The Sting

Chicago, 1930. Johnny Hooker, a small time crook, makes the mistake of getting in trouble with the gangster boss Doyle Lonnegan. When his best friend and partner is murdered because of this, Johnny asks the help of Henry Gondorff to set up a trick. The aim is to extract money from the gangsters and to even the score. Unique classic movie that remains until today, pleasant and hearty to the viewer. Combining drama and comedy, great characters and a witty plot with many twists, it stands as one of the most memorable con/crime films.
